I have not been to a wedding in years and when I recently went to one I was really surprised at all the details that they had there. In my day it was just a simple ceremony at the local church and then back to the local pub for some food and maybe dancing. However, things seem to be very different these days. Weddings in expensive hotels or other fancy venues, receptions on boats or in marquees and then all the details, wedding bubbles instead of confetti, decorations, favor boxes, table confetti, balloons, wedding cars and everything else. I did wonder why the price of wedding had gone up so much and now I know. There certainly seems to be a showing off element which there never was in my day, back then it was all about making the commitment in front of family and friends rather than breaking the bank to have a better party than everyone else. It is nice to celebrate in style but I do think that many people have forgotten what the real meaning of a wedding is and all of the sentiment and romance seems to have been lost and replaced with stress and bankruptcy!

I think that one of the things that do not seem to have gone down in price in this recession is wedding bands. I suppose people still want to get married even if they have less money and they do not want to scrimp on the best day of their life. They want to have a great time, make it day to remember and give each other valuable gifts which will last forever. This is why they will keep spending on thing like the rings and also the wedding gowns as that will feature in every photograph taken and so is very important. It is interesting that people are still willing to pay a lot of money for this sort of thing and want to do it right now rather than waiting a while and saving up and also are not prepared to cut costs anywhere. It is probably worth considering doing one of these things though as it would not be good if one big memory you had from your wedding was not being able to pay for it afterwards or having to go without for years after just to pay for one day. It is important to remember that it is just the start of the rest of your lives together and money can often be a cause of tension anyway.
