Weight loss can definitely be a struggle. It is really hard to maintain a healthy diet with tons of fruits and veggies and avoid junk food or comfort food. Hunger is always a problem, and keeping portions small can be tough. But the thing that really makes weight loss hard is finding the time. With today’s busy way of life, full of school, ridiculously long work days, bills, email, and chores and errands, it seems that there is never a spare moment. This creates a huge roadblock in any diet plan, because preparing healthy meals and snacks take more time than grabbing fast food or zapping a TV dinner in the microwave. Even worse, when your agenda is booked, it is really hard to get the appropriate amount of exercise each week.
Including bike riding in your life may be an effective way to drop pounds quickly. In fact, you can kill two birds with one stone by using your bike as a calorie burning method of transportation. If your place of employment isn’t far from home, you can get your exercise in every day without trying, simply by biking to work. Even if you drive to work, you can still multitask by biking while visiting the library, the post office, grocery store, etc. Biking also makes for a great social activity, allowing you to spend time with loved ones while shedding pounds.
Before beginning a biking weight loss program, be sure that your bike is in good condition. When you bike outside, plan interesting routes. If you’re out of shape, start with slow four mile rides. Add mileage as your fitness improves.
