Many think that Pablo Picasso
paintings belong in the sect of impressionism, but they would be
mistaken. Although Picasso was around that time period, he was well
known for his founding of cubism, an art form involving simple
geometry to produce awe inspiring paintings. But Impressionism was a
revolution in the art of painting.
Artists no longer focused on portraits and trying to paint
with utmost accuracy. They branched out during the Renaissance and
decided they would focus on painting nature and humanity. The most
famous of the impressionists was probably a man named Claude Monet.
His work was astounding in his time and still is at this very moment.
Claude Monet
paintings tried to capture the one thing that was the most
difficult to paint; light itself. He would wait until the perfect
time of day to capture the light he wanted in his paintings.
Impressionist paintings seem like they are easy to paint
because of their seemingly rough attention to detail and blurry
attempts at detail, but the style is extremely difficult to master.
There were only a few impressionists that are still seen in museums
today.
